Tackling One of the Biggest Environmental Challenges in Concrete Construction.

Concrete is the world's most widely used construction material after water

The Problem

Concrete construction accounts for approximately 6% of global CO₂ emissions. On average, 4–7% of all concrete produced is sent directly to waste treatment.

Recycling concrete is challenging, and its high pH makes it potentially harmful to the environment. Existing concrete recycling methods are expensive and inefficient.

Estimated Environmental Impact / Finland / Year

The Environmental Potential of Grindzero in Finland Alone

5 000 000 km

Less Heavy Vehicle Traffic in Cities and Urban Areas
Reduced heavy vehicle traffic means fewer accidents, less wear and tear on road infrastructure, lower noise levels and fewer particulate emissions.

17 000 000 kg

Less CO₂ Released into the Atmosphere
Estimated reduction based on:30 kg/m³ through carbonation50 kg/m³ through reduced transportation.

375 000 000 kg

Less Aggregate Demand
Grindzero reduces the need for extracting and transporting new raw materials by enabling surplus concrete to be recycled and reused.

* Calculation assumptions: The estimated volume of surplus concrete is based on statistics from major Finnish concrete producers. Transport savings are calculated using an annual concrete production volume of 2.5 million m³. A transport distance of 25 km is assumed for crushed aggregate logistics and other transportation. The bulk density of recycled aggregate is assumed to be 2.35 tonnes/m³.

Grindzero -logistics

U-turn on Concrete Recycling Logistics
Grindzero logistics vs. traditional logistics (below)
Grindzero fundamentally changes the way surplus ready-mix concrete is handled and recycled. It eliminates several separate stages associated with transportation, stockpiling, crushing and intermediate storage. Elimination saves significant amount of energy and skips heavy machinery operations. Drasticly diminishing environmental impact and infrastructure wear.
